Redcon1 MRE is an animal-based protein powder (MRE does not contain whey protein) and meal replacement shake made from whole food sources.

In the military MRE stands for Meal Ready to Eat, and this shake absolutely drinks like a meal. With a giant serving size of 130g per serving (4 scoops), a serving of MRE is 530 calories with only 4g of fat, 75g of carbohydrates (of which only 5 is sugar) and 47g of protein.

The majority of the fat content in MRE comes from MCT oil, which is extracted from coconut oil. MCT oil (medium chain triglyceride) is a healthy fat that that the body can use efficiently for energy.

In most American diets today, carbohydrates get a bad rap. I have never been a low-carb zealot, but I have been less carbs in the past.  That is because in the standard American diet we eat far too many carbohydrates that are usually accompanied by saturated fat and sugar. MRE does not do that. (MRE does not contain any saturated fat and only 5g of sugar per serving depending on flavor)
