So, Who is Joshua Myers?

Hi there,

I'm Joshua Myers, founder of JustMaxFitnessNutrition.com. Shortly after birth, I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and have been wheelchair-bound since I was too big to fit in a stroller (at about the age of 5). Thinking back, I developed a life-long passion for fitness and strength training at about the same age.  

I knew I had to be strong to be able to function and be independent despite being told I couldn't participate in sports and active events with classmates. So I worked at doing what most people do without ever having to think about it. Things like walking and using their natural 'able-bodied' physical abilities.

Eventually, I became my high schools first physically disabled wrestler. After high school I knew I wouldn't wrestle competitively, so I needed to find a new sport.

While in college at the University of Iowa - watching my favorite wrestling team dominate the mats - I discovered disabled powerlifting (or ParaPowerlifting. I would go on to win 5 Cerebral Palsy National titles and compete for a World Championship in 2001. 

It wasn't long after that I learned about the throwing events of shot put and discus, where competition is split evenly among the folks with varying degrees of disabilities.

Focusing on these sports has allowed me to channel the strength and power I gained during my time as a power lift into the journey of reaching my highest athletic goal yet - qualifying and competition in the Paralympic games!

I have won 5 National Titles, 6 regional titles: 4 at the Desert Challenge Games in Phoenix, AZ, and 2 in Chicago Illinois at the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association Adult Open.

As a college graduate, a full-time employee of a small insurance company, loving husband, and full-time father of two young boys, I knew I would need some way to cover the additional costs, which kept adding up, of my athletic pursuits and competition.

In order to turn my dreams into reality, and to help other's reach their fitness and nutrition goals, I created the JustMaxFitnessNutrition.com website! I want to people get every thing they can out of fitness, just like I have.
